About Urban Survival Manual

This book presents 64 short stories that vividly explore the “possibilities” and “impossibilities” of life. Divided into three sections, the stories are set in familiar environments like the office and romantic relationships. By blending sci-fi and fantasy elements with these everyday settings, the book subtly critiques the absurd and grotesque chaos of society. The use of dark humour invites readers to savour the bitter ironies of life—smiling through the sharpness of its satire.

About the Writer

Born in the 1980s, Ong Hui Chee graduated from National University of Singapore with a B.A. in Chinese Studies and later earned a M.A. in Linguistics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. With a deep love for both literature and drawing, she realized her passion lies in “creation” and “creative work”. In 2021, she embarked on a journey into the world of creative merchandise, founding her own brand, "@wordslostme," which focuses on illustrations that bring joy. Urban Survival Stories marks her first literary collection, complete with illustrations drawn by herself.
