About the Book
An Ever-Living Fire is a collection of poems exploring memory and the experience of living on an island. Taking the tropics as its spiritual coordinate, Qiu Chuyuan weaves together landscapes stretching from Shenzhen and Hong Kong to Nanyang, interlacing childhood, travel, philosophy, religion, and psychology in a poetic journey between reality and consciousness.
Here, the “tropics” (热带) signify a state of being, while “without philosophy” (无哲学) invites us to return to the everyday, to return to the body, and to contemplate how, in a world where ultimate answers remain beyond our grasp, we might continue to feel, continue to believe, and ultimately become our truest selves.
About the Author
Elysia Qiu (Qiu Yuqi) is a Singapore-based writer, playwright and creative professional, born in Shenzhen, Guangdong, and educated in the United Kingdom. He holds a BA in Philosophy, with minors in Psychology and Theatre Studies, from the University of Warwick, and an MA in Advanced Theatre Practice from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He has worked in game writing and creative strategy, and is the author of the novel Passing Deer. His literary works have appeared in Lianhe Zaobao – Arts & Culture, Shenzhen Daily – Shenzhen-Hong Kong Book Review, Special Zone Literature and other publications. Since university, he has written and directed numerous theatre productions presented at festivals and venues in China and internationally, earning recognition from the UK National Student Drama Festival and favourable reviews from theatre publications. He was Third Prize winner in the Poetry category of the 2025 Singapore Golden Point Award and a featured writer in the 2026 Special Zone Literature Biennial List.

作者简介
丘楚原，95 后，生于广东深圳，求学于英国，工作& 现居于新加坡，曾从事游戏文案策划、创意策划。英国华威大学哲学学士（辅修心理学与戏剧学），英国中央演讲与戏剧学院高级戏剧实践硕士。著有长篇小说《鹿过》，作品散见于《联合早报—文艺城》、《晶报—深港书评》、《特区文学》等期刊／报刊。中学时期，曾获多个现场写作大赛一等奖。大学至今，编剧／执导多部戏剧作品，上演于国内外知名戏剧节／剧场，并获评2019 英国国家学生戏剧节“特别关注青年艺术家”，剧目入选2019 英国国家学生戏剧节& 北京南锣鼓巷戏剧节文学剧场单元短名单，获数个戏剧媒体好评。2025 新加坡金笔奖诗歌组季军得主，2026 第五届特区文学双年榜上榜作家。
