About An Infinite Moment
An Infinite Moment marks the beginning of the poet's journey. In the winter of 2015, he wrote “Back Alley” late at night in a hotel in Ximending, Taipei. His travels between Shanghai and Singapore, along with experiences in and out of hospital wards, gradually shaped his work, leading to the creation of the "Human World" and "Hospital" sections of his poetry collection. The pandemic's onset in 2019 deepened his reflections on the relationship between individuals and the world, inspiring the "Continued Song" and "In Exile" sections. Reflecting on this period, the poet remarked, "At this moment, I don’t know when the pandemic will end, just as I don’t know what changes await me in life. All I can do is write about this moment." This captures both the uncertainty of his circumstances and his reliance on writing as a means of navigating life’s unpredictability.
About the Writer
He Shan graduated from East China Normal University (ECNU) with a major in Chinese Language and began his career as a teacher. In 1999, he moved to Singapore to continue teaching, before briefly leaving and returning in 2008 to resume his career. Currently, he is pursuing a doctorate at the National University of Singapore (NUS), with a research focus on the “Application of Educational Drama in Chinese Education.” He believes that “reading opens the door to the world, while writing is a form of self-communication and a process of personal salvation.”

《一個時刻》是一個起點。大學畢業後的二十年間，何杉未曾動筆寫過作品，二〇一五年冬季，在臺北西門町的旅店，深夜裡他寫了《後巷》。自那以後，由於各種變故，他穿梭上海與新加坡，出入各種病房，人們的各種遭遇使一些篇章漸漸地浮現出來，因此有了詩集中的「人間」、「病院」；二〇一九年，疫情讓他有更多的動機去思考廣泛意義上人與這個世界的關係，於是有了「斷續歌」、「在流放地」。詩人言道，「此刻我不知道疫情何時進入尾聲，如同我不知道生命中還有什麼變故在等著我，而我能做的——只是書寫當下這個唯一的時刻。」
作者簡介
何杉（原名王哲，曾用筆名平湖），畢業于中國上海華東師範大學，修讀漢語言文學。畢業後從事教職，一九九九年底抵達新加坡，受雇於教育部擔任中學教師。之後一度返滬，二〇〇八年再度返回新加坡，重回教育部擔任教職，同時，也是新加坡南洋理工大學博士候選人，研究「教育戲劇在華文教育中的應用」。
閱讀將各個世界的門向人們打開，寫作則是與內在自我的對話，更是一種自我拯救的方式。
「雖然寫作並不能讓我抵達何處，但是我相信一件事：如果沒有寫作，我早就毀了。」
