About Dear Doctor, The Beginnings

Dear Doctor, The Beginnings is Dr Chow Chiu Leung's debut poetry collection, thoughtfully curated from works written between 2015 and 2019. The poems explore his experiences of relocating to Singapore, working in geriatrics, and studying overseas. Through poetic transformations, this collection intricately weaves together a "Sonata of Life", reflecting moments from Hong Kong, Singapore, Scotland, and beyond. A doctor by day and a poet by night, Dr Chow aims to craft poems that resonate with kindness and heart. With a subtle yet profound voice, he seeks to bridge literature and life, connecting his medical practice with his creative expression.

About the Writer

Dr Chow Chiu Leung (b. 1978), born in Hong Kong, he spent his formative years there before graduating from the Faculty of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He later moved to Singapore for work, where he immersed himself in the local culture and began engaging with the city’s literary scene. Inspired by his experiences and interactions with local writers, Chow started experimenting with poetry as a way to document his journey. His works have been featured in literary magazines in both Singapore and Hong Kong. In 2018, he received the Merit Award at Singapore's National Poetry Festival.
